BIO
I've been a colourist for around 14 years, curious about colour and light my whole life.
Starting out on 16mm and 35mm as an assistant in Da Vinci Telecine, and later using the Baselight DI colour system, I developed my eye for careful storytelling with the manipulation of light and colour to assist the director with their vision.
It's difficult to describe exactly what it is a colourist does...we enhance the picture, yes, but I believe a good colourist makes you feel the story. We can take the raw material of light and exposure and turn it into something flush with the intention of the director, whether it be subtle and subconscious or leading and deliberate, the addition of careful colouring is just as much part of the story telling as the editing and sound.
